Ben van Berkel’s university education took place at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and the Architectural Association in London; he finished his studies in 1987 and became architect. In 1998 he founded the UNStudio in Amsterdam with Caroline Bos. The Studio designed public buildings, bridges and other urban projects all over the world. Van Berkel/UNStudio also devoted himself to a singular pastime, that is, transforming architecture into sculpture. Among its creations we remember the Mychair, the armchair Seating Stones and the modular sofa Sofa Circle.
